southeast asia and then some

a year later, i'm finally getting around to sharing these photos from my month-long asia trip with my family after graduation. something about today made me miss asia--perhaps it was the craving for boba, or my spotify "a z n m u s i k" playlist. whatever it was that inspired this post, i hope you are able to see asia up close from these pictures.

i'll be starting off with malaysia, followed by thailand, hong kong, and then finishing it off with taiwan. someone please invent teleportation ASAP.

images 1-4 // my dad's hometown in malaysia. it's a fishing town named kemaman. i grew up visiting a ton and my favorite memory was definitely not the mosquito bites, but chinese new year with my cousins and my favorite uncle who has seen passed. not to mention, breakfast in kemaman is the best--always kaya toast (coconut jam) and thick coffee with condensed milk that i crave all the time even back in america.

images 5-9 // scenes from bangkok thailand. it's a predominantly buddhist country and they pride in the fact that they've never been conquered as a country. lots of temples are spread across town and you need to make sure that you're covering your knees and shoulders to avoid stumbling those monks visiting from all over the world. many of these pictures were taken when my family and i were getting conned. it's a long story--ask me about if i ever run into you! thankfully, it's a funnier story than a sad one!

images 10 + 11 // scenes from hong kong. this was as quick pit stop and all i did was eat...a LOT. the food wasn't as fabulous as taiwan, but hong kong has a distinctly western feel to it that i really enjoyed. the blend of cultures is kind of cool to see and pick apart. p.s. egg tarts are the key to my heart. just sayin'...

images 12-14 // these images reflect taiwan's culture and heart. i absolutely loved taiwan from the street scenes to the food. OH, especially the food. i'd love to return as soon as possible.

other parts of asia are on my radar for 2015. something about getting to know my heritage is simply fascinating.
